McCaffery Interests was selected to redevelop the former site of Children's Memorial Hospital in Lincoln Park, after the hospital moved its operations to a brand new facility in Streeterville in June 2012. Currently MI is working with the City, Community and Alderman to master plan a new mixed-use development in its place. The 6.04-acre site is located at the highly visible six-way intersection at Lincoln/Halsted and Fullerton, adjacent to DePaul’s campus and near Oz Park, Lincoln Park Zoo, the Fullerton elevated stop, and multiple historical districts containing some of the city’s most beautiful old homes. The new development will be transit-oriented and sustainable, combine new construction with historic preservation, and create a vibrant new gateway for the Lincoln Park neighborhood. The latest plans estimate a total economic impact of $3.5 billion, and would create as many as 2,500 construction jobs, 250 permanent jobs and $122 million in tax revenue.
